Strategic Partnerships
AFP-DC's strategic partnerships augment professional opportunities and provide additional benefits for our members and affiliates.
- Center for Nonprofit Advancement (www.nonprofitadvancement.org)
The Center for Nonprofit Advancement includes members from throughout the Greater Washington area's nonprofit community. The Center provides AFP-DC with meeting space and AFP-DC members serve as faculty to many of the Center's workshops on fundraising. The Center has been a co-convener of National Capital Philanthropy Day since 2002.
- Direct Marketing Association of Washington (www.dmaw.org)
AFP-DC and Direct Marketing Association of Washington successfully launched the Bridge to Integrated Marketing and Fundraising Conference in 2006, working together to bring a wide variety of educational sessions in fundraising and direct marketing together for over 1,100 busy professionals. The 2007 Bridge Conference built on this success, attracting nearly 1,300 fundraisers, direct marketers, exhibitors, sponsors and speakers. A committee of volunteers begins working nearly a year in advance to plan this first-rate conference. AFP/DC and DMAW continue to work in partnership on this annual conference for the benefit of our members and colleagues throughout the region and beyond. To learn more about the 2008 Bridge Conference, please visit www.bridgeconf.org or contact info@afpdc.org.
- Touch DC (www.touchdc.org)
AFP-DC is a founding member of the Touch DC Coalition, a group of local funders, businesses, and nonprofits that came together to simplify and centralize local charitable giving. Though Touch DC was a direct response to the post-September 11 financial crisis felt by many local charities, it has thrived as a credible, easy-to-use resource on the work and financial needs of local organizations.
- National Capital Philanthropy Day Co-Conveners: Each year, AFP/DC invites select local and regional organizations and associations as well as national groups directly serving constituencies in the greater D.C. area to serve as co-conveners for this signature event, which celebrates philanthropy in the region. In 2006, 16 co-convening organizations supported the event, including: Americans for the Arts, Association Foundation Group, Catholic Charities Foundation, Center for Nonprofit Advancement, CFC Association, The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region, Foundation Center-Washington, DC, Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations, National Capital Gift Planning Council, Nonprofit Roundtable of Greater Washington, Points of Light Foundation, TouchDC, United Way of the National Capital Area, Volunteers of America, Washington Area Women's Foundation, and Washington Grantmakers.
