NCPD SPONSORSHIPS
- Applications due October 2
Over the past two decades, National Philanthropy Day
has become a celebrated occasion in cities across the
country, drawing hundreds and even thousands, to celebrate
the commitment of those who make a difference in their
communities. While many individual organizations honor
their own in the greater Washington DC area, this event
offers community wide visibility and an opportunity
to publicly recognize business, foundation, volunteer
and community leaders who are committed to philanthropy.
Sponsorships range from $1500 to $10,000
and a list of specific recognition is listed on page
three of the Sponsorship
Proposal. To Sponsor, register
online or fax
the form to 703-610-9005
by October 2, 2006.
DISCUSS
GOVERNANCE CHANGES - September 21
Please join us for a meeting hosted by our chapter following
our regularly scheduled luncheon on Thursday, September
21, from 2- 4 pm, at the Center for Nonprofit Advancement's
Conference Room, 1666 K Street, NW, 4th Floor (around
the corner from the Army Navy Club). Joining us will
be Philip G. Schumacher, CFRE, from LaCrosse, WI, a
member of the Governance Task Force, Alphonce J. Brown,
Jr., ACFRE, Chair of the AFP board of directors, and
Lori Gusdorf, Vice President for Membership and Chapter
Services at AFP.
The AFP/DC board of directors has been keeping up with
the Task Force's activities and has twice submitted
feedback to the AFP Governance Task Force and most recently
to the full AFP International board of directors. AFP/DC
has some concerns about the proposed changes and is
pleased to be able to host our own meeting, prior to
the Delegate Assembly meeting in October, where the
governance recommendations will come up for a vote.
We would welcome your input. Read the full
report from the Governance Task Force then read
the AFP/DC
board of directors' feedback. Please RSVP

with the subject line "RSVP Discuss Governance
Changes" if you can attend this very important

YOUNG
PROFESSIONALS - September
27
It's already September and this month's
Networking Night is right around the corner. This month
we're going to invite some of the wise pro's and mentors
in our industry to join us so we can make some connections
and learn from their experience.
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, September
27th. As usual we'll be from 5pm - 7:30pm and we've
decided to keep it at Buffalo Billiards since we tend
to get a pretty good turnout there. That's right off
the Red Line in Dupont Circle for those of you who are
unfamiliar.
We have had solid turnout at recent events
and would like to grow our network whenever possible.
So, please invite a colleague, peer or co-worker for
a drink and some casual conversation.
We look forward to seeing you all there.
Don't miss this opportunity to meet & greet the
people who paved the way for us.
RSVP is not required but is appreciated.
If you'd like to let us know you're coming, please email
pframe@listservices.com.
