UPCOMING EDUCATION PROGRAMS

FUNDRAISING FORUM – April 17
“Leadership Skills for Fundraising Professionals”
A Networking Breakfast & Panel Presentation

This morning-long program will help fundraising professionals enhance their leadership and team building skills.

  • Learn how one executive director really broke down the silos to promote inclusion by all staff – from the newest to the longest serving.
  • Hear from a former executive director who motivated his team by considering every staff member a ‘fundraiser’.
  • Participate in real-life “What If” scenarios to see how you and other participants might handle a tough management situation

Speakers will discuss cross departmental interactions for development professionals in an effort to avoid silos and hinder shared leadership within organizations; thereby creating interdependence among various departments to contribute toward overall success of nonprofit organizations.

Come to our first Forum of the year and learn fresh, creative management and team building solutions that will increase your effectiveness as a manager and take your organization to the next level!

LOCATION: L'Enfant Plaza Hotel, 480 L'Enfant Plaza, SW, Washington, DC 20024, 202-484-1000.  Hotel is near L’Enfant Plaza Metro Station. Metro travel is encouraged.

ROUNDTABLE PROGRAM - April 29
Legal Issues Facing Nonprofits - “I wish I could ask a lawyer”
Join Paige Conner Totaro from Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts in a roundtable focusing on some of the various legal issues that nonprofits face on a regular basis.  Bring your questions and experiences to share as we explore such topics as deciding what should go in your Bylaws versus a Policy Manual, or when it might be appropriate for a nonprofit to consider copyrighting its logo, its name or its program names.  If your nonprofit is ever sued by someone, what’s the first thing you should, and what’s the first thing you shouldn’t do?   Is it more effective to have an attorney on your board or simply to have counsel for the organization?  What are the pros and cons of each approach?  Join your colleagues in a lively conversation with an expert.

Roundtables are free, but open to MEMBERS only.

RSVP: send email to info@afpdc.org with the subject line of "RSVP for Roundtable" and include your full contact information.

The Roundtables are sponsored by Professionals for Nonprofits, Inc.
