E-BAG December
2005
E-Bag Sponsored by Donor

Message from the President
Happy Holidays! I hope this letter finds
all of you well on your way to meeting your year-end
fundraising goals.
I want to thank everyone who took time
out to join us for National Capital Philanthropy Day
on November 14th. It was a spectacular, sold-out event
that left me feeling inspired and proud to be a part
of this great profession. I want to take this opportunity
to thank event co-chairs Beth Brummel, CFRE and Brooks
Kenny and the entire NCPD Leadership Committee for an
extraordinary job.
Pictured here: National
Capital Philanthropy Day Emcee Leon Harris of WJLA ABC
7, Event Co-Chairs Brooks Kenny and Beth Brummel, CFRE
and AFP/DC President Kathy Swayze, CFRE.
I urge you to consider joining us for one of our last
two events of the year. Join us on December 9th for
the Advanced
Executives session for a discussion of the role
of the not-for-profit sector in disaster response. Our
AFP/DC Holiday Luncheon and Annual Meeting on December
15th at Smith and Wollensky Restaurant on 19th Street,
NW is sold out; but you can be put on the waiting list
by faxing the registration
form.
Under the outstanding direction of VP Education Nancy
Racette, CFRE, we'll kick off an exciting new
line up of 2006 Educational Programs soon. Keep an eye
on our website at www.afpdc.org
for more details.
Finally, I want to publicly commend our staff: John
Ganoe, Mary Lou Swiscoski, and Rashida Moore for their
tireless efforts in recent weeks. They managed the myriad
details associated with Fundraising Day Washington and
National Capital Philanthropy Day. Even though these
two events occurred less than three weeks apart, both
ran smoothly thanks to the long hours our staff put
in. Please let them know how much you appreciate it
the next time you see them.
Wishing you a wonderful holiday season and a prosperous
New Year!
Kathy Swayze, CFRE
President
