2005 Update from AFP/DC
President's Message for November
Most
of us are extremely busy right now with year-end fundraising
efforts, so I'll keep my message very brief.
I
want to thank the more than 500 professionals, presenters,
exhibitors and sponsors who attended Fundraising Day
in Washington on October 26th. It was a wonderful day
with two outstanding plenary speakers and many exemplary
tracks. Some speakers have provided copies of handouts
and presentations for our website – so check there
in a few weeks to pick up even more great ideas. Congratulations
to the entire Leadership Committee for a job well done.
We'll
gather again today – Monday,
November 14th -- for the sold-out National Capital
Philanthropy Day luncheon. I look forward to seeing
many of you there as we honor Dr. Marcella Brenner
(Outstanding Philanthropist); Lyles Carr
(Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer); America
Online, Inc. (Outstanding Corporate Partner);
Fannie Mae Foundation (Outstanding
Foundation) and our very own, Nan McConnell,
CFRE (Outstanding Fundraising Professional).
The NCPD committee has worked very hard to make this
a spectacular event, so please say thanks when you see
them.
Mark
your calendars now for one of the most enjoyable networking
events of the year – our AFP/DC Holiday Luncheon
and Annual Meeting on December 15th at Smith and Wollensky
Restaurant on 19th Street, NW. See more details below
and don't miss this chance to celebrate the season
with your AFP colleagues.
Best
wishes for a successful year-end fundraising season!
Kathy
Swayze, CFRE
AFP/DC President

Your Calendar Now for
The Annual AFP/DC Holiday Networking Luncheon
Thursday, December 15th
Celebrate the end of a busy fundraising year with colleagues
at your chapter's annual holiday networking celebration.
This year's event, on Thursday,
December 15th at Smith & Wollensky, will
feature of recognition of our chapter's outstanding
corps of volunteers and a short chapter annual meeting:
a recap of a strong year for our chapter. This year's
holiday event is sponsored by Avalon Consulting. As
always, our holiday luncheon will feature a charitable
drive on behalf of a worthy local charitable organization.
This year our holiday effort will benefit Reston InterFaith,
a non-profit organization serving Northern Virginia
promoting self-sufficiency for those in need through
support and advocacy. To learn more about Reston InterFaith
go to their website
and to register for our December event visit our website
later this week. And, do it soon: seating at this year's
holiday luncheon - -always one of our most popular programs
- is limited to the first eighty registrants!
