MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear AFP/DC Members:
As fundraising professionals, AFP/DC members practice what we preach! I’m writing to celebrate recent gifts to the AFP Foundation and to announce our Chapter’s new Leadership Partner.
Every Member Campaign
AFP/DC has won two awards given by the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy that will be presented at the International Conference in San Diego later this month:
1. 2007 Highest Annual Fund Giving
2. 2007 Every Member Campaign total giving
The Every Member Campaign supports activities undertaken by the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy, the fundraising arm of our parent organization, AFP International. 100% of AFP/DC’s Chapter board members contributed to the campaign in 2007. We were joined by many other members of the Chapter who made generous contributions. Collectively, we gave over $27,000! $7,500 of our contributions will return to AFP/DC to support year-round programming and outreach activities right here in the metropolitan Washington area.
(Curtis Deane, AFP Foundation and Grace Hong)
To give to the 2008 Every Member Campaign, go to www.afpnet.org and click on “Make a Gift” under the QuickLinks on the right of the home page. Your support will help fund cutting edge research, scholarships and educational programs throughout the world.
AFP/DC’s New Leadership Partner
I am delighted to announce that AFP/DC has a new Leadership Partner, Development Resources inc (DRi), www.driconsulting.com. DRi has made a $10,000 commitment to the Chapter that will support the 2008 Bridge Conference, National Capital Philanthropy Day 2008 and our reception at the AFP International’s conference in San Diego.
DRi’s Chief Operating Officer, Nancy Racette, CFRE, is AFP/DC’s Treasurer and a generous donor to the Every Member Campaign. She exemplifies the best of our profession – ethical and effective fundraiser, dedicated volunteer leader and generous financial donor to both the Chapter and the international organization. On behalf of AFP/DC’s Board of Directors, thank you, Nancy!
For more information about the Every Member Campaign or sponsorship opportunities, please contact President-Elect Nancy Withbroe, nwithbroe@cdrfg.com.
Friends of Diversity Designation
I just received news from AFP International that the AFP DC Chapter will receive the 2007 Friends of Diversity Designation. The Friends of Diversity designation indicates that our chapter serves as a model for all chapters in accomplishing diversity related goals set forth by AFP and our chapter leadership. I want to especially thank Val Broadie for her leadership and efforts as VP for Diversity for our chapter, along with the Diversity Committee.
