Advanced Executives Breakfast
SPEAKER: Amy A. Kass, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute and long-time faculty member at the University of Chicago.
Amy Kass will speak about her new anthology, Giving Well, Doing Good, a collection for Readings for Thoughtful Philanthropists. In addition to laying out general themes of her book, Dr. Kass will lead a discussion to challenge us to think and act more meaningfully and responsibly about how we use our knowledge and expertise as professional fundraisers to serve the public good. As background, each registrant will be provided with a copy of Paul Pribbenow’s essay, addressed particularly to professional fundraisers, which provocatively asks: “Are You a Force for Good?”
Kass brings a wealth of well-researched perspectives to our discussion. She is also the author of The Perfect Gift: The Philanthropic Imagination in Poetry and Prose, to help donors think about the meanings and purposes of giving, and has conducted the Hudson Institute’s “Dialogues on Civic Philanthropy,” a seminar series to promote and sustain thoughtful discourse on basic issues in philanthropy with leaders in the field.
Following the session, Dr. Kass will be available to autograph copies of her books. So, bring your copy along!
